SUMMARY:Ophelia's Jump presents Espiritu Flamenco
DESCRIPTION:Ophelia's Jump Productions will present their annual event\, Espiritu Flamenco\, an evening of exquisite Spanish food and virtuosic Flamenco performance on Saturday\, October 5 at the Garner House at Memorial Park in Claremont.\n\n \n\nEspiritu Flamenco is a celebration of Spanish food\, music\, and dance.  The evening includes a delicious 3 course dinner prepared by OJP Artistic Director\, Beatrice Casagr n\, using her family's recipes.\n\nThe ticket price includes a completely made from scratch 3 course dinner of Spanish pinchos & tapas\, Paella (Shrimp\, Mussels\, Chicken\, Jamon Serrano & Chorizo Leon\, in saffron infused Bomba rice) OR for our vegetarian friends\, Penne pasta with roasted mediterranean vegetables in a yummy olive oil\, garlic\, and herb tomato sauce\, plus a delicious dessert. Served up with a glass of Sangria\, wine or nonalcoholic beverage. There will also be a cash bar available with sangria\, wine\, and whisky!\n\n\n\nThis culinary deliciousness is paired with some of the best Flamenco dance and music available in the US.\n\n \n\nAbout the artists:\n\nAndres Vadin was born in Habana\, Cuba in 1976 and is a guitarist\, composer\, arranger\, session\, tour musician\, and guitar teacher. He is a graduate of the Guillermo Tomas and Amadeo Roldan Conservatory of Music in Habana. \n\nAndres's great passion for different music styles\, is evident in his versatile musicianship. He has collaborated on several albums that have been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards.\n\nVadin also performs with his project\, the Andres Vadin Project\, playing his original compositions infused with Cuban\, Arabic\, and Jazz influences. They have been performing at the Flamenco Arts Festival (FAF)\, a world-class flamenco music festival held in California. He also performs with ''Beyond Carmen'' project that includes Classic Music\, Opera and Ladino music in collaboration with mezzo soprano Audrey Babcock.\n\nLakshmi Basile began performing at the age of six with her parents' band "The Electrocarpathians". After performing as a flamenco dancer in California and studying classical dance at the University of California Santa Barbara\, Lakshmi travelled to Spain at the age of 20 to complete her flamenco studies. She was fortunate to be quickly embraced by artists and find work in tablaos and flamenco private events alongside great artists who nicknamed her La Chimi.\n\nPepele Mendez  has been studying different dance forms for over 15 years including time spent in Sevilla\, Spain. She has studied and performed with the top performers in the Los Angeles flamenco community. For the last few years Marcela has been performing with Richard Chavez' group at the close of the Santa Barbara Fiesta days at the El Paseo benefit show. Marcela performs regularly in southern California flamenco tablaos: Alegria\, El Cid\, Tapas and Caf  Sevilla. Marcela feels it is an honor to be a part of the small flamenco community that transcends throughout southern California.\n\n\n\nBriseyda Zarate is an inspired and skilled Flamenco Dancer\, Choreographer & Teacher based in Los Angeles\, CA. She's a Mexicana/Chicana raised in a campesino household in Delano\, CA. She began studying dance and performing at the age of 5 and has dedicated the last 25 years of her life to Flamenco.
