Description

"The United States in a Changing World", will be the topic of the February 9th Community Meeting and Fund Raiser of the LWV of the Claremont Area.  Professor Ed Haley, Director of the Center for Human Rights Leadership at Claremont McKenna College will speak to the challenges our country faces amid the unpredictable global events of our times. A professor of International Strategic Studies, he has served on the staffs of members of the U.S. Congress.  Among his recent publications are Strategies of Dominance (2006) and Strategic Foreign Assistance (2006).  He is a frequent contributor to the Christian Science Monitor.
 
Participants at the event will also enjoy delectable desserts from around the globe in the beautiful setting of the recently renovated Padua Hills Theatre in the foothills of Mount Baldy. The theatre is located at 4467 Padua Ave., Claremont. The time is from 2 to 4 pm.  Cost is $30. The League of Women Voters of The Claremont Area serves the eleven communities of  Claremont, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Glendora, LaVerne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga, San Dimas and Upland.  It is a non-partisan organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government.  The League also influences public policy through action and advocacy.  It does not support or oppose candidates or political parties.
